Cocaine is a sympathomimetic drug with central nervous system stimulation and euphoric properties. High doses can cause panic, schizophrenia-like symptoms, convulsions, hyperthermia, hypertension, arrhythmias, stroke, aortic aneurysm, intestinal ischemia, and myocardial infarction.
